more about "The iPlatform Demo on Vimeo", posted with vodpod

I couldn’t possibly explain what iPlatform does, I’ll leave it to the video above and their website to do that. However I would like to say that I think the iPlatform is very very exciting and will make a major impact on online communities for consumers, brands and marketers.

Please head over there now, learn more and get on board sooner rather than later.

Nice. But isn’t this an alternative to facebook apps. Appreciate that it links between social media sites (bebo, facebook et al) and serves sites which are yet to develop a social media app. But from the video, if RunAround.com had a facebook app (not a big ask) would that not offer the same functions as iPlatofrm without the additional layer?

    Hey Will,

Cheers for the comment – two main responses.

    1. Our technology allows a site to exist (with all the same functionality) as fully integrated applications on multiple social networks – currently Facebook, Bebo and MySpace, but later more – as well as a standalone site, all with a single, fixed API.

    2. Because of our API conversion technology the applications are able to iFrame in the central site or applications. For communities, this means that a user within Facebook can interact with other users in the community – even if they’re accessing it from other social networks, like MySpace or Bebo.

If the RunAround just wanted a single, standalone Facebook application, then they’d be better off just getting one built. If they want an integrated community across multiple social networks, then the iPlatform makes this much, much easier.
